Karcag City Student Council

About us

The Karcag City Student Council, KVDÖK for short, is a city youth community that supports the community participation, interest representation and active engagement of young people living and studying in Karcag.

The aim of KVDÖK is for local students to be not merely participants but also shapers of the city's programmes and community life affecting young people. Young people get the chance to contribute to shaping Karcag's youth life with their ideas, opinions and initiatives.

KÖZ-Pont Youth Association supports the work of KVDÖK as professional background, helping young people with community building, programme planning, organisation and connecting to city events.

Our story

The Karcag City Student Council was originally founded on 27 May 2013 thanks to a grant project, with the support of KÖZ-Pont Youth Association.

The process gained new momentum in 2017, when the Municipality of Karcag asked KÖZ-Pont Youth Association to professionally support the city student council. The city leadership considered it important that student representation be strengthened and that young people could join the city's community life within an organised framework.

The Founding General Assembly of the Karcag City Student Council took place on 1 February 2018, where every school in Karcag was represented by student delegates. This was an important milestone in the life of KVDÖK, as city student council work restarted in a more organised form at that time.

Since then KVDÖK has organised several programmes and is continuously working to make ever more community events possible in Karcag by involving local young people. Their programmes are primarily for young people living and studying in Karcag, but they welcome everyone who would like to join them.

Among KVDÖK's important tasks are appearing at city events and actively joining in them. They also regularly take part in twin-town programmes, which give a special opportunity to build relationships with young people from across the border and from abroad.

One of the community's outstanding milestones relates to the renovation of the Karcag Youth and Kids' Office, or KIFLI. The young people of KVDÖK played a very big part in the creation of the youth office that opened in 2020 – as we like to say: without them it would not have come about.
