Culture Shock Training 2.0

From August 12 to 14, we held the follow-up to the July Culture Shock training in Debrecen, marking the conclusion of our project supported by the European Youth Foundation.

The past three days were filled with excitement and events. The first day was dedicated to getting to know each other: we had an introduction circle, creative passport additions, and deep discussions about what participants are proud of in their own countries or the challenges they face at home. In the afternoon, we explored the stages of culture shock, and then the participants had to design a concept for a culturally themed restaurant— the ideas were truly diverse!

The second day was particularly significant from a professional standpoint. We put into practice the ideas developed during the previous training. We started with a warm-up game called hot potato, then acted out intercultural conflicts, and the Hungarian culture was also in the spotlight—with stations for traditional recipes, celebrities, and folk music.

On the last day, we processed the training elements from the previous days in a workshop, then created new practices in groups. We tested the results during the afternoon and reflected on each other's work to improve further. We concluded the day with a joint summary, where everyone shared what they learned and how they grew over the past three days.
