Student Academy 2024

From June 24-28, 2024, the Student Academy, the mandatory training for youth leaders, took place at the yurt camp in Létavértes.

The five-day training was attended by the five student governments we operate, aiming to acquire extensive professional knowledge. On the first day, after their arrival, settling into their yurts, the opening ceremony, and the introduction of the framework, the student government members had to take an entrance exam, which consisted of both theoretical and practical parts. The afternoon included some team-building activities, and in the evening, we played rounders together.

On the second day, there were opportunities for smaller group work, where participants could choose from various topics. Everyone could sign up for the sessions they were most interested in, such as training methods, debates, self-awareness, fundraising, and youth engagement. There were two large group sessions where participants delved into the 12 social and life skills competencies, as well as student rights.

On the third day, we held a traditional program element, Heritage Day, where former student government members visited to share their experiences and talk about past programs with the current youth leaders. That afternoon also marked the beginning of the week-long and essential dance rehearsals, taught by one of our ESC volunteers.

The fourth day also offered opportunities for both smaller and full group work, covering topics such as project management, our tools, and time management. We concluded the evening with a karaoke party and a communal barbecue.

On the fifth and final day, the exit exam's theoretical and practical parts were administered. During this, the participants performed the dance they had been learning all week. After the exam, we concluded the training, thanked each other for the week and the shared moments.
